The evidence is the saying of the Messenger of Allāh (صلى الله عليه وسلم):
Whoever is pleased that his sustenance is enlargened and his life is extended then let him maintain the ties of kinship. [1]
From the fruits of keeping the ties of kinship is enlargenment of provision and increase in blessings.
Shaykh al-Fawzān (حفظه الله) said:
Its meaning is that Allāh (سبحانه وتعالى) has promised the one who kept ties his ties of kinship that He will reward him by increasing his lifespan and expanding his provision as a reward for his good conduct.[2]
Though everyone's lifespan and appointed time is decreed and affixed, it is through the asbāb (ways and means) that increase and decrease occurs, such that if one does not take of his health and lives dangerously, he can die early and if he lives with care and caution, he will live longer. Thus, in the life of this world Allāh can increase or decrease people's lifespans and livelihoods by way of what He decrees upon them, through the created ways and means, with all of this in the Preserved Tablet. Thus, no one is hastened or delayed from his appointed time.
