Ways of Acquiring Sustenance

Fifteen legislated ways and means that help a person to acquire rizq (sustenance).

12. Supplication (Duʿā)

The evidence is the saying of Allāh's Messenger (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wasallam):

أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْفَقْر

I seek refuge with you from the trial of poverty.[1]

And also his saying:

تَعَوَّذوا باللهِ مِنَ الفَقرِ والقِلَّةِ، والذِّلَّةِ، وأنْ تَظلِمَ أو تُظلَمَ

Seek refuge in Allāh from poverty, scarcity and humiliation, and that you oppress (others) or are oppressed.[2]

Supplication is from the keys of opening upon sustenance and it also repels poverty and tribulations.
