01 The innovator's good qualities are not to be mentioned as punishment for his deviation.
Ibn Abī al-Dunyā (d. 281H) mentions that: Abū Ṣāliḥ narrated to me that he heard Rāfiʿ b. Ashras (رحمه الله) say:
It used to be said that from the punishment of the liar is that his ṣidq (truthfulness) is not accepted." He said: And I say: “And from the punishment of al-fāsiq al-mubtadiʿ (the sinful innovator) is that his good qualities are not mentioned.[1]
