Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) said:[1]
Whomever Allāh the Sublime guides to accepting truth, wherever it lies, with whomever it lies, even if it was with someone he hates and shows enmity, and rejecting falsehood from whomever it is, even if it was with someone he loves and allies with, is from those who have been guided to that from the truth which has been differed over.
Imām ʾAbd al-Raḥmān al-Muʿallamī (رحمه الله) said:[2] (إن مدار كمال المخلوق على حبّ الحق وكراهة الباطل) “The perfection of the creation revolves around loving truth and disliking falsehood.”
Since loving truth and disliking falsehood is from the perfection of man, then it follows that his love of truth will lead him to accept it, no matter where it lies and with whomever it lies, even if it is with one for whom he has hatred, enmity and aversion. Otherwise, it would be arrogance and pride that prevents him. And his dislike of falsehood would lead him to reject it, even if it was with the one whom he loves and allies with. Otherwise, it would be compromise, and would entail love and loyalty that is not genuine.
This is because true love and loyalty is based upon what is for Allāh’s sake, and that itself entails accepting truth and rejecting falsehood, if one truly loves truth and dislikes falsehood.
